How a one-way rental works

Four steps, no surprises

It is the same bike, the same contract and the same phone number as any rental with us — it just ends in a different city.

    Tell us where you finish

    Message us your dates, the bike you have in mind and the city you want to leave it in. We come back with availability and one total price.

  2. 02

    Pick up in Dalat

    Collect the bike at our shop in the centre of Dalat. We go through it together and you get a written rental contract and the vehicle papers (blue card).

  3. 03

    Ride, at your own pace

    Take the days you need. Flat tyre or something rattling? Call or WhatsApp us — most small jobs are fixed at any roadside mechanic and we refund the cost.

  4. 04

    Hand it to our partner

    Leave the bike with our partner in the destination city. We give you the exact drop-off address when you book.

  • A copy of your passport — we never keep your original passport
  • International Driving Permit (1968 convention, motorcycle category) plus your home licence — required for every self-ride rental
  • A cash deposit — ask us for the amount

Vietnamese law requires an International Driving Permit (1968 convention) with your home licence, and travel insurance often won’t pay out without one — please check your policy.

Before you book

Riding yourself? You need an International Driving Permit

  • An International Driving Permit issued under the 1968 Vienna Convention, with the motorcycle category (A) ticked.
  • Your home driving licence — the permit is only valid together with it.
  • Bring both to the shop. Police checkpoints ask for them, and travel insurance usually will not pay out without them.
  • Some countries only issue the older 1949 permit (for example the USA, Canada and Australia). If that is you, message us before booking and we will tell you honestly what that means for riding here.

No permit? You can still see everything on the back of a guide’s bike on our guided tours. Not sure what your permit is? Send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will check it for you.

Why there is no one-way price list

A one-way rental depends on three things: which bike you take, how many days you keep it, and which city you drop it in. We would rather ask you those three questions and reply with one total than publish a table that is wrong for your trip.

  • The price we send is the total — the bike, the papers and the drop-off, all in.
  • In high season our advice is to book ahead: the adventure bikes go first.
  • Changed your plans? Tell us as early as you can and we will rearrange it.
